Getting Off the Road: Ian Summers (Meta)

Crowds made Ian Summers crazy. Because of this, he became increasingly unsure just why he even wanted to stay in the business. Even managing the sem-successful careers of an entire stable of musicians and bands, he was beginning to resent the life. The business full of groupies, slackers and rack jobbers gave him constant indigestion and migraine headaches.

Singin' The Morning After Blues

OOC Note: This is a piece I did at Pan Historia a few years back as part of the Midnight People novel. Since Caroline has been quiet for a bit and has now awakened I am taking her in a bit of an AU sort of world where she is singing and recording and has a really insufferable manager by the name of Ian

The Palisade was jumping and Ian Summers felt particularly chuffed with himself. Tonight it was going to be a veritable orgy of drugs, sex, rock and roll and the most important element of all that made it all possible - money. He was about to sign a very good, very lucrative band that would be one more in his collection of creative content generators that would make him an even richer man. Life was good, it was very good. It was, that is, until he saw Caroline in a corner cooing and billing with that nobody like a couple of love-struck canaries.

Darkness Fades

From the "Grand Theft Auto: Hotwired" novel over on Pan HistoriaThanks to my fabulous co-writers over on that site!

I don't know why I ever agreed to see a cop. Least of all a three-times divorced cop who couldn't seem to ever get his head out of whatever game he was i at the time. . Make no mistake, he was good to me. Maybe it was because he and I understood each other in the fact that he was his job - being a cop; just as much as I was my own job - being a singer and a musician. Love wasn't ever much a part of the deal between Vincent and I as it was some sort of mutually realised need.Read more... )

Joyeux Noël, Glyka Mou! Merci!

My bags are packed. Time for me to take you up on that proposal and for us to melt some of that yuletide snow, I think. *grins*

Your gift and the sentiments attached underscore the reason why I waited so long.

OOC: More Vids!

At the prompting of a friend to watch an (almost) unrelated video on YouTube, I decided to check and see if there were any updates for Vids of Caroline's PB, Rosie Vela. These were ones that I had psoted before that were just partials, and now I have the full ones. Thought I would share. :)

Apparently LJ doesn't like the embedding of videos today, so I will just post the URL's

Borrowed from Stelios...

Your Name Comes From Mercury

You have the gift of gab, and nothing energizes you like good conversation.

And it's likely that when you're not talking, you're writing. You love communicating your thoughts.

You are also quite studious. You find learning to be both easy and rewarding.

You are good at understanding what is being communicated to you. You also know what questions to ask to better clarify things.

I guess communication is what being a bard is all about.

Island Hopping (RP for [livejournal.com profile] immortalsparta)

The days in Greece had been wonderful and exciting both a whirlwind at at times. For both of them it was so beautifully relaxed and heady all at once. During those halcyon days, Caroline found herself ever-so-glad that they had waited until they were here in this place to become intimate. Certainly it was the one place in the world that made Stelios who he was - and during this time Caroline also came to realise just how much she had come to feel for Stelios. They had spent the day before procuring one of the fabulous boats that were so well known and native only to Greece. Now the sun was barely coming up and they walked hand in hand toward the dock where their boat was moored and waiting. Read more... )

96.6 - Confrontation

He hadn't changed the locks. Something told me that he wouldn't simply because my father would never have thought of such a thing, not even after I had shot him. The house had not changed. What can change in an early 17th Century French Château that had been in our family for that many generations?

I entered the Great Hall and was greeted by a rather surprised Francois, who had been with our household for years. He was in an apron, drying a dish when he heard my key in the lock. He was about to speak when I held my forefinger to my lips. I did not want him to say my name, for if there was anything that my father was sure to hear, it would be even the smallest pronouncement of my presence. No. This visit would be between Papa and myself and it would be on my terms - not his. I was still exceedingly angry at Papa for what he had done to Stelios at the Tammy Awards, and even though my beau had simply written off my father as a coward and had relegated him to whatever category of person to be both avoided and never again trusted - I had the burden of having to deal with the man who was my father directly.Read more... )

After this post.

Smoke and Candles light your way
They glow like angels
Words you just dont wanna say
They can change your future
It's too late to turn back now
Can you fight all your feelings
Frightened little girl you keep in side
She's left in tears....

For most of my life, I have never known my father. And after what happened recently, I have no desire to know him at all now. I allowed myself to fall in love, and to dare to be happy, did all that a daughter could respectfully do in order to make her father understand that the man I had given my heart to was good, honourable and loved me for myself, not power, not a fortune,...and now. I feel as if everything I ever held dear is crumbling down on top of me.

What can I possibly do? How can I possibly erase the stain of my blood and what it brought to Stelios? I do know that I am leaving France. Where I will go afterward, be it home to the Fortunate Island or somewhere else, I am not sure. I do know that I want nothing more to do with that man who is allegedly my father.

I leave tonight. I only hope that Stelios will not cast me out of his life because of who my father is and what he has done.

[livejournal.com profile] charloft - Tales of Pb's

1. Who is your character's PB?
Rosie Vela

2. Which came first, the character or the PB?
The character. She sat idle for a great while, however and then started speaking up again. It was a long search to get it right.

3. Why did you choose this particular PB?
The Muse decided what it was that she wanted. She doesn't look a whole lot like either of her parents - recessive genes perhaps? Al I know is that the imagery of Rosie Vela was perfect for Caroline de Rochefort. Since Caroline was a singer, too, and Rosie Vela has both pictures and videos from her own work and that which she did with ELO and others, it further emphasized the rightness of this particular choice to represent Caroline.

4. How close is the PB to your character? What are the differences, if any?
I would say very closely. She is very tall, slender, not very buxom, and has masses (!!) of strawberry blonde curls. She is rather soft spoken and she is in a lot of ways very sweet and non-confrontational. These traits of which some can be seen as positive and others as not-so-positive really sort of lend themselves to Caroline's challenges as well.

5. Have you modified the PB in any way to be more like your character?
No, not at all. Since Rosie Vela was both a fashion model and a recording star, there is alot of imagery out there to use.

6. Have you ever changed your character's PB / would you ever? Why, or why not?
Yes. Originally she started out as Mia Sara, but the muse definitely did not really work with dark hair and eyes. The fresh, almost Celts look of her made absolute sense for Caroline and here she is.

7. Where did you find icons of your PB, or did you make them yourself?
I do a great many Google searches, I also have some books and fashion magazines from the 80's, various things that I saved ironically that had Rosie Vela in them. I never thought about using them as PB imagery until just a couple of years ago. Now I just make the icons and manips myself. I have a couple of very good ones that were also done by the scribe for [livejournal.com profile] immortalsparta, who has done a fantastic job.

8. Is it important to have an appropriate PB for your character? Why or why not?
Because it really does help tie the story together and gives both writer and reader a good reference or jumping off point for the imagination.

9. Have you ever been favorably/unfavorably predisposed towards a character because you liked or didn't like the PB choice?

Well, I do know that Caroline stopped and went, "Wow!" when she saw Stelios' PB, Michael Fassbender. She was the one who initiated conversation with him and their relationship developed slowly over time. It really was rather perfect how it played out. Other muses, she will stay away from if they look too intimidating.

10. Have you ever had a character who was represented by text icons / no icon only because they were too difficult to find a PB for?
I think all of my muses, except Caroline has some sort of text representation, but usually the pictures nearly always win out.

[livejournal.com profile] just_fck_me 9.5 - Wet Sex

Stelios' touch on her cheeks and chin was gentle as he drew her face to his and kissed her. She kissed him back and could taste the salt of the sweat from the heat of the day on his lips. It didn't matter. It was him and she deepened the kiss as his hands gently along the 'V 'opening in her dress. He broke the kiss just as his fingers reached the buttons on the front, reassuring her and telling her again that he loved her. She knew she would never tire of it, never get tired of hearing him murmur the words. At the same time he was revealing more and more of her flesh, her own fingers undid the buttons of is shirt , making little better progress than Stelios was with the bodice of her dress. In spite of there being more buttons on her clothing, Stelios' fingers deftly undid more buttons to expose her breasts to his gaze and his touch. "I want this to be perfect", he murmured.

What Musical Instrument Should You Play?

Certainly no surprise here! ;-)

You Should Play the Harp
You are a sensitive soul, with a great admiration for beauty.
You definitely have what it takes to make beautiful music, but most instruments are too harsh for you.

You are subtle, shy, and even a bit spoiled. You're very picky about most aspects of your life.
It's just your style to play an eccentric, hard to transport instrument like the harp that few people consider.

Overall, you have the relaxed demeanor of a leisurely upper class person, and your music would reflect that.
Your calm yet soulful harp playing would be sure to help people forget their troubles for a while.

Your dominant personality characteristic: your zen-ness

Your secondary personality characteristic: your quiet independence

Dear Scribe For Our Collective:

You know that Stelios is waiting on a reply from me - and he and his writer are also waiting on that piece that you are supposed to finishing up for me. I know what I want to do and say. All you have to do is write it down. Do you think you can do that? I realise that my mother is still the High Lady, and the rest of us must fall into line after her, but I do believe I have been more than patient where you are concerned.

Get to it!

[livejournal.com profile] writers_muses: 61.3 - "Pissin' Down"

I was crawlin’
On the way home that morning
I was shot down and tired
You were strung out and high
Just when I thought it was over
When I thought I might win
You slammed the door to make love to
Your old lady heroin

"I still can't believe you gave Justin another chance after all that, baby," Geoff wiped the sweat off of his face after the last practice set of the evening. Throwing the towel aside, he drew a cigarette out of a breast pocket of his worn flannel shirt. The exertion of the rehearsal made the dark blue even darker on his back and under his arms. 'And you are letting him stay with you?" he asked shaking his head, "You must be a glutton for punishment, is all I've got to say."

I sat down and leaned an arm against the top of the piano and began to pick out individual notes."I know," I said with a sigh. "Look, he promised me he was clean. I have to believe he's telling me the truth."

"You tell the truth, Caro. I...none of us have never known you to lie about anything - ever. But junkies who've a ten and twelve thousand dollar a week habit don't tell the truth," Geoff's eyes were sad, and I felt as if I had let him and the other band members down somehow in trying to do the right thing.

"Truthfully, Geoff," I said,"I know I'm taking a risk here. But I don't know what else to do."

"Well," he said giving me a hug goodbye, "you can call me if you need to. OK?"

I nodded my agreement and I took my leave of them. The walk home from the studio to my apartment was just around the corner. My head was a tumult. Justin Whitman had been my friend for a number of years. He was a gifted bassist and he was always a good deal of fun. Like most human musicians, he fell into drug addition. He was on and off the horse so many times I was beginning to think every time we talked about it, we were talking about equestrian sports rather than a constant addiction that he had to do battle with. This time, he had convinced me he was going to do it right.
